Olympic torch passes through Brighouse
As the Olympic Torch Celebration travels through the UK on route to the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, the town of Brighouse in Huddersfield was its place of attendance on Monday 25 June. The event, organised by the Brighouse Business Initiative, included Commercial Street in Brighouse being transformed into a venue for an Olympic Torch Celebration Sports Day for over 1000 children from local schools.
And the turf, of course, was provided and laid by OBL Contracts and Greenlands Turf & Topsoil. The job consisted of laying turf across Commercial Street, which you will see from the video to the right, is usually a local high street, but for the day in question was more akin to a sports field after we had fully laid and prepared the turf to be walked on by thousands of attendees at the event.
